February 21, 2024It’s about Basic Human Needs
Everyone Deserves this
Your support can reshape our shelter. Together, we can ensure that every individual we come into contact with experiences the dignity they rightfully deserve, with their basic human needs fulfilled.
Maslow’s hierarchy underscores dual needs: the first four signify “deficiency needs,” while the upper encompass “being needs.” Daily, our Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter team strives to fulfill these needs for each resident entering our shelter. Our Capital Campaign centers around these resilient individuals and your role in perpetuating their well-being.
Your involvement is instrumental in upholding their aspirations and sustaining our mission of care.
Where the Shelter started, and where we need to go.
Since 1979, our shelter’s journey has been one of unity and compassion. Representatives from agencies, businesses, and concerned citizens collaborated to support women in crisis. In 1982, our first shelter’s doors opened, marking a significant step. Recognizing the growing need, we established the Phoenix Safe House in 1999 with 11 beds to expand our services. As our commitment deepened, so did the unfortunate demand. While our aspiration is a violence-free society, our dream remains distant, but we persist. Until then, we are steadfast in meeting basic human needs, embracing each step toward transformation.
Key objectives of our Capital Campaign include:
Upgrade Facilities:
Through your generous contributions, we can modernize and enhance our facilities, creating a safe and comfortable environment where families can heal.
Remove Barriers:
Ensuring we offer respect and dignity by removing any accessibility barriers for our clients by offering them safe spaces with increased accessibility to rebuild their lives.
Comprehensive Support Services:
We are committed to providing a holistic range of support services to empower families on their journey toward healing and independence.
“In the most vulnerable time in our private life, their discretion and empathy helped me make the positive decisions I needed.”
